Episode 06: Why Your Income Feels Stuck Despite Doing Everything “Right”

June 29, 2026
If your income feels stuck in your business despite doing everything right (you know, the strategy, the showing up, the offers, the content) this episode is for you. What if there’s nothing wrong with what you’re doing—but a ceiling you’re hitting that actually has nothing to do with the ‘doing’ at all?
When I finally got brave enough to start meeting people here in Spain, the conversation would always go the same way. How did you get here? Digital nomad visa. What do you do? I’d explain my work. And every time, people would light up—genuinely curious, genuinely impressed. And every time, I would immediately start deflecting and acting like it wasn’t that big of a deal.
I noticed it the first time… and the second time… and by the third time I caught myself deflecting, I knew exactly what I was looking at: a receiving wound. And if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that when a pattern starts showing up in one area of your life, it’s about to show up everywhere else, too.
What We Cover
Why your nervous system doesn’t separate “life stuff” from “business stuff”
The non-obvious signs that you have receiving work to do (these don’t look like money problems at first)
The hallway visual that helps you understand the real issue you’ve been struggling with
Why the unconscious always wins (and what to actually do about it)
What building receiving capacity looks like in real life
When You’re Doing Everything Right and Your Income Still Feels Stuck
Most people who come into my world have a theory about what’s going wrong. There’s a doing problem, they think. Something in the execution. Some missing piece of strategy they haven’t cracked yet. But when I actually look at their work—the website, the content, the testimonials, the offer—it checks out. Their clients are getting results. What they’re doing makes sense. The doing is doing.
And yet something isn’t moving in the way they want it too.
What I see, more often than almost anything else, is a receiving problem. Not a strategic problem, not a messaging problem, not a discipline problem—a capacity problem. A gap between what someone is putting out into the world and what they’re allowing themselves to take in.
The visual I keep coming back to: there’s a hallway with a room at the end of it. Inside that room is everything you want, exactly as you want it. You’re walking down the hallway, getting close, and instead of opening the door—you pace. You walk faster. You do more. When the only thing actually standing between you and the room is opening the door and walking into the room.
The Signs of Receiving Wounds
Receiving issues don’t always look like obvious money things. They show up in ordinary moments, the kind that seem completely unrelated to your business.
Someone says they like your shirt and you immediately reply it’s ten years old with a hole in the armpit. You jump on a call and spend the first thirty seconds apologizing for your hair, your background, your two-minute lateness. You share an actual win and it comes out as “this isn’t a big deal, but…” Someone asks how you’re doing and within seconds you’ve redirected the whole conversation back to them. Having the attention on you feels like too much. Something goes really well in your business… and you deflect. It’s the timing, the algorithm, that one person who reposted it. Anything except you and what YOU accomplished.
The mechanism that makes you deflect a compliment is the same mechanism that makes it hard to receive a payment. The pattern that has you apologizing for taking up space is what has you undercharging, over-delivering, and making yourself smaller. Receiving is receiving. If it’s difficult in one area, it’s showing up in others.
Why Feeling Stuck Makes Complete Sense
There is nothing wrong with you. The reactions you have around receiving aren’t random: they’re patterns. Patterns that were created probably very early in life to keep you safe. Maybe taking up too much space had consequences. Maybe wanting too much did. Whatever it was, your system adapted intelligently and protected you.
It’s just that now, your conscious desires and your unconscious patterning are contradicting each other—and the unconscious always wins. Which means no amount of doing more, hustling harder, pushing further is going to move the needle.
The ceiling isn’t in your output. It’s in your capacity to receive.
What To Do With This Information
The work is to be able to hold more—recognition, money, visibility—more of what you consciously desire. What you believe is possible for you, what you believe you’re allowed to have—has an upper limit. And you will unconsciously regulate down to your “normal range” unless you actively build the capacity to hold more.
That expansion doesn’t happen through a five-step framework. It happens in the small moments—the ordinary, mundane, real-life ones. It happens when you notice you’re shrinking your wins before someone else can. Or when you feel the urge to redirect the conversation off of yourself. Or when you catch yourself crediting luck for something you actually created.
Those are the moments to pause and to make a different choice, as a practice of real-time rewiring.
Reflection Prompts
Where do you notice receiving feeling hard in your everyday life?
When something goes well, what’s your first instinct?
How is this showing up in your business and bank account?

That's the work I do. At the intersection of identity, embodiment, neuroscience, and money—I help the people who are so good at being in motion actually move more intentionally and sustainably toward what they deeply desire.
