When I was on track for my first 6-figure year I had multiple wake up calls that the way I was operating was not sustainable.
One of the biggest ones was that my relationship had started deteriorating in front of my eyes—a result of complete isolation and obsession with one thing and one thing only—my business. I was unable to carve out any time or space to watch a movie or eat dinner with the person I believe to be my soulmate because I lived on my laptop.
If I couldn’t make time for him, you better believe I had no time for me.
I was isolated. I was obsessive. I was in a dark place. And yeah, the money was nice—but to what end?
The highs of a new client or a big invoice were short-lived. My emotions were on a constant roller coaster. I started grinding my teeth. I somehow still felt like I was living paycheck to paycheck despite the 5-figure months.

In the hierarchy of needs this work probably feels less necessary as you are growing into consistent income months—HOWEVER, the sooner you attend to this work the better. Most of my clients ignored this work to scale their businesses and were met with burnout, exhaustion, existential dread, and ended up having to make massive shifts in their business to accommodate. So the sooner you do this work, the better—you can skip all that stuff!
